Wind Site Planning
Taking into account the effects of noise, shadow flickering, visual impact, disturbances to birds and health & safety rules, generally accepted best practices for wind site development have emerged and are often enforced by the licensing authority. Accordingly, the minimum distance from wind turbines to major roads should be the drop height (~50m), power lines 100m, parks and leisure zones 200m, detached houses 500m, nature zones 500m, and urban areas 1km. Following these guidelines will, in many cases, significantly reduce the scope of the environmental impact survey, saving time and money.
